$6.5 million in deferred maintenance will also be addressed
Inver Hills Community College received $22.025 million in construction funds for the college’s Technology and Business Center renovation project as part of the 2023 Bonding Bill. The funds will be used to renovate 31,800 square feet of the building, improving learning experiences for students in STEM, Paralegal, Business, and Accounting programs, among others. Furthermore, $6.5 million in deferred maintenance will be addressed. The building opened in the early 1970s and has undergone limited updates since then.
Michael Berndt, president of Inver Hills and Dakota County Technical College, reported that Inver Hills received $698,000 in 2018 to fund the project’s design phase.
“Getting to this point has taken years of collaboration and persistence on the part of many people on and off our campus,” President Berndt said. “The efforts and continued work to see this project completed are much appreciated. This state-of-the art facility will offer a more effective and more appealing learning environment.”
