Friday, April 20, 2018 • 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. • Heritage Hall Room 203
The Sociology department and Sociology Club at Inver Hills Community College is hosting the 6th Annual Inver Hills Marijuana Forum Friday, April 20, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Heritage Hall Room 203. Town Square Television will be filming the program. Dave Berger, sociology faculty at Inver Hills, reported that his students are involved in all aspects of the forum’s production.
“We will have four speakers on our panel,” Dave said. “Each will get exactly ten minutes to address the topic. Then we will have a question-and-answer session for about thirty minutes. Questions from the audience will be collected on note cards and asked by our student emcees . The entire forum will last about ninety minutes.”
Dave added that the program’s format is not a debate, but rather a forum to present a variety of different views on the topic of marijuana, medical cannabis and related legal aspects.
“We find that providing indirect questions allows for a more respectful and safe environment,” he said. “This program is being filmed by Town Square Television before a live audience of students, staff, faculty and community members. We expect between fifty and one hundred people to attend. The program will eventually be available on YouTube and Town Square Television. The production crew for our forum is made up of students, staff, and faculty.”
