Center for Career Development and Community-Based Learning hosting annual event
The Center for Career Development and Community-Based Learning (CCD+CBL) is hosting Career Week 2019, an annual event held on the main campus of Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. The five-day event takes place the week of February 25, 2019.
Students studying any discipline can participate in five different events to learn how they can take control of their career opportunities. Preparedness is essential for any successful job search.

Etiquette Lunch
WHEN: Monday, February 25, 2019

Discover Your Strengths
WHEN: Tuesday, February 26, 2019
From 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
WHERE: College Center 117
Dominant American workplace culture tells us that if we just work hard enough on our weaknesses, we will eventually achieve success. Positive psychology and decades of research by Gallup challenge that assumption by saying that we will achieve success when we invest in our talents.
During this session, you will learn how to identify your natural talents, how to leverage them, and how to take advantage of free strengths coaching on campus. This event is co-sponsored by Student Life and the Leadership Academy.

Applying for a Federal Job

WHERE: Heritage Hall 203
Are you interested in working in federal government or at the VA? Now is your chance to learn about the process, special hiring authorities and more. Do you know someone from off campus who might like to learn about this? Bring them along. This event is open to the public.

Backpack to Briefcase
WHEN: Thursday, February 28, 2019
From 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
WHERE: Three locations in Fine Arts Building
Check-in held on Fine Arts building second floor; location details included in registration* confirmation.
Join local employers and the Center for Career Development and Community-Based Learning (CCD+CBL) for our annual Backpack to Briefcase event. This is your one-stop opportunity to learn what employers want to see on your resume and LinkedIn profile, and what they want to hear during your job interview.
There will be free food, free LinkedIn profile photos, and other free stuff. But most importantly, this is your opportunity to gain a competitive edge in your future career.
Activities in this event change every 30 minutes. Students who may only be able to participate in some of the sessions are still welcome. Please include your availability in the registration.

Career Week: Labor Market Information for Decision Making
WHEN: Friday, March 1, 2019
From 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
WHERE: Heritage Hall 203
This training session will help attendees learn where to find and how to access Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) labor market information. Attendees will navigate the DEED Data Center and learn how to use the most relevant data tools to understand the local economy and provide the best guidance to jobseekers and other clients.
