Expanding Your Horizons Conference 2018

Motivating young women in science + mathematics • April 28, 2018

Inver Hills Community College and Independent School District 196 are hosting an Expanding Your Horizons Conference Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The conference provides opportunities for girls in grades 6–8 to interact with positive women serving as active role models in science, technology, engineering, agricultural and mathematics-related fields—STEAM.
Taking place on the college’s main campus in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, the full-day conference offers fun, hands-on learning experiences for participating students while introducing them to the exciting world of STEAM careers.
Concurrent parent and teacher workshops will focus on college readiness, student support, financing and career pathways. Breakout sessions with workshops will give students the chance to directly explore the wonders of science and math. Science labs will be taught by college instructors. The STEAM Career Expo will include representatives from colleges, student groups, professional societies and STEAM employers. The conference will also feature a keynote speaker (TBA).
