Gen X-ercise tops field of 16 teams
The Employee Engagement & Wellness Committee invited employees and students on both the Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College campuses to participate in the DCTC & Inver Hills Four-Week Wellness Challenge.
The challenge kicked off Monday, March 31, 2025, and ended Monday, April 28, 2025. With bragging rights on the line, teams of four to six people competed in activities covering the “Dimensions of wellness: Change your habits, change your life.”
The eight dimensions of holistic wellness are:
- Physical
- Environmental
- Financial
- Social
- Spiritual/holistic
- Emotional
- Occupational
- Intellectual
The top five finishers of the Wellness Challenge were Team Gen X-ercise with 4,754 points, Team Quota Crushers with 4,405 points, Team Study Warriors with 4,323 points, Team Everyone Loves Marketing with 3,770 points, and Team KUWTK with 3,632 points.
A Wellness Challenge Celebration was held May 7, 2025, in the West Atrium on the DCTC campus in Rosemount, Minnesota.

How the Wellness Challenge worked
There were five pre-set daily personal tasks under the eight dimensions of wellness AND one weekly group challenge. The daily challenge tasks remained the same day to day, but the group challenges changed each week.
The Employee Engagement & Wellness Committee understood how 40 daily tasks could seem like a lot, but the tasks were simply examples of small actions participants could take to support their overall health and wellness, noting how even taking one step can make a difference in improving an individual’s overall well-being.
Each person was responsible for their own wellness tracker submissions. They were instructed to track Monday through Sunday each week with the option to input their total points daily or at the end of the week on the wellness tracker web form that was emailed to all participants Monday, March 31. Daily tracking was designed to take less than five minutes.
Team Captains did not need to tally or submit for everyone on their team, but were advised to encourage their teammates to submit each Monday by noon. Captains could also lead group challenges if they wanted extra points.
Teams could earn extra points by completing the following challenges:
- Having both DCTC and Inver Hills colleagues on your team
- Signing up and participating in the Spring into Wellness Fun Run
- Campus involvement such as attending campus events
- Setting and achieving personals goals
- Getting 15,000 steps in a week
- Decluttering your space
“Invest in your well-being—you deserve it,” the Employee Engagement & Wellness Committee declared at the outset of the joint-campus event. “So, join in this April Wellness Challenge to prioritize your health, support your teamates, and strengthen our campus community together!”
