PokéStops, PokéGyms and Pokédex

If you’ve never heard of Pokémon GO, welcome back to planet Earth. Visit Pokémon GO  to catch up in a hurry. Inver Hills has seven PokéStops on campus and two just off campus plus two PokéGyms. See below for tips that will help you catch them all.

Heritage Hall PokéStop

Tip: Stand outside between Activities building and Heritage Hall near the Sunken Garden and you can access both PokéStops at the same time.
Note: Heritage Hall has classrooms and labs for the Biology, Chemistry and Emergency Medical Services programs. Pokémon love students in these programs.

Note: Inver Hills has the finest EMS program in the state of Minnesota. Visit Emergency Medical Services to learn more.

Laurence Margolis Bench PokéStop

Tip: Stop by the Learning Center in the Library building and visit Rebecca Merton, director of disability services, and access this PokéStop at the same time.
Note: This bench is dedicated to Larry Margolis, retired and well-respected Inver Hills CFO.

Public Arts Space PokéStop

Tip: This PokéStop can be troublesome due to service issues; try accessing it from outside the Fine Arts building.
Note: You can earn an A.F.A. in Art at Inver Hills while specializing in one of six artistic disciplines: painting, ceramics, photography, glass, sculpture and drawing.

Fine Art Sculpture PokéStop

Tip: You can stay in your car to access this PokéStop and defeat the purpose of getting some exercise.
Note: The name of this sculpture along with its backstory are an IHN mystery soon to be solved.

Jack Wahl Memorial Tree PokéStop

Tip: This PokéStop is tucked away near the Liberal Arts bottom level just south of the Technology Services building.
Note: Our psychology faculty take a scientific approach to studying the behavior and mental processes of people (not Pokémon). You can pursue an A.A. with Emphasis in Psychology at Inver.

Inver Hills Community College Main Sign

Tip: You have to walk or drive right up to the sign; you can’t access it from the sidewalk across the street.
Note: Inver Hills Community College offers A.A., A.S., A.A.S. degrees and certificates. You can capture Inver online at inverhills.edu.

Inver Glen Library PokéStop

Tip: You have to check out a book or compliment a librarian to access this PokéStop and get your Poké Balls, eggs, potions, Razz Berries and other items. (Just kidding.)
Note: You can almost certainly find Pokémon at the Inver Hills Community College Library, but don’t annoy the librarians.

Inver Grove Heights Trail System PokéStop

Tip: Wow, Inver Grove Heights has many hiking trails, but don’t worry, this sign is easy spot at the intersection of Broderick Blvd. and College Trail.

Tip: If you can’t find this PokéGym, go up the stairs to the right of Heritage Hall and discover the Community Garden.
Note: The Inver Hills–Metro State Community Garden & Orchard is amazing.

Tip: You can’t miss this PokéGym; things will work out.
Note: The Inver Hills Foundation offers numerous scholarships, including the Robert and Alexandra Klas Endowed Scholarship.

Pokémon Go Safety Tips

  • Be alert at all times.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings.
  • Play in pairs or in a group to ensure your safety.
  • Do not drive, bike, skateboard, roller-blade, skydive or multitask in other unsafe ways while playing Pokémon Go.
  • Do not trespass on private property or bring Pokémon Go to inappropriate venues.
  • Be aware of third-party software apps claiming to enhance the gaming experience; these apps may compromise sensitive data, i.e., name, e-mail, calendar, etc.
