Why Inver, Inver Change-Maker and GAP scholarships for fall semester 2020
Thanks to the generosity of the Inver Hills Community College Foundation, the college’s Admissions Office has three scholarships to offer new students for fall semester 2020; the scholarships are renewable for spring semester 2021. All scholarship applications are due for consideration by August 10, 2020.
Why Inver Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship for fall semester 2020; renewable for spring semester 2021; total: $2,000
Four $500 scholarships for fall semester 2020; renewable for spring semester 2021; total: $1,000
The Why Inver Scholarship gives new students a chance to explain via a 500-word essay why they chose Inver as the place to meet their educational goals. The college’s scholarship review committee will evaluate the quality and originality of the submitted essays and select five applicants as semifinalists.
The semifinalists will be encouraged to share their essays on social media channels for online voting. Friends, family and community members will all get a chance to vote. Votes can be cast once daily through August 21, 2020, at noon.
The applicant with the most votes (the finalist) will receive a $1,000 scholarship for fall semester 2020; the scholarship is renewable for spring semester 2021 for a total of $2,000. Four semifinalists will receive a $500 scholarship for fall semester 2020; the scholarship is renewable for spring semester 2021 for a total of $1,000.
Inver Change-Maker Scholarship
$1,000 scholarships for fall semester 2020; renewable for spring semester 2021; total: $2,000
Inver Change-Maker Scholarship recognizes that our new students have the passion and potential to change the world and serve as incubators for social change. This scholarship aligns with efforts to create racial, economic, environmental and other forms of justice coalescing in our historical moment.
The Inver Change-Maker Scholarship gives students the financial support they need as they develop a service-learning or research project that will help Inver and our surrounding communities as we work for positive social change. Service-learning and research project essay submissions should be approximately 500 words. Recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship for fall semester 2020; the scholarship is renewable for spring semester 2021 for a total of $2,000.
Growth and Purpose (GAP) Program Scholarship
$500 program-supporting scholarships; renewable for two semesters, fall 2020 and spring 2021; total: $1,000
Growth and Purpose (GAP) Program Scholarship supports the work of a new enrollment initiative. In these unprecedented times, Inver Hills Community College acknowledges that not all students are pursuing their academic careers in the way they may have envisioned. Inver created the Growth and Purpose (GAP) program to address community needs linked to service and education.
GAP Scholarships support students who apply and are admitted to the GAP program, which is designed to provide an individualized learning experience coupled with coursework related to the student’s interest area.
Students enrolled in the GAP program will select a theme for their year; project essay submissions of less than 500 words will be considered. New students can apply for consideration of a program-supporting scholarship of $500, renewable for two semesters, fall 2020 and spring 2021, for a total of $1,000.
