Student Success Day (SSD) for spring semester is Tuesday, February 25, 2020. SSD is dedicated to helping students focus on their college goals and learn about campus resources. Time will be provided for students to meet with faculty one on one.
Full-semester day classes (face-to-face and hybrid) are cancelled to allow student, staff and faculty to participate in success-oriented events. Online courses, accelerated courses (first 8 weeks), nursing clinicals and off-campus courses may be held as usual. Please note that February 25, 2020, is also precinct caucuses day, so no events can be held after 6 p.m.

Keynote speaker

This year’s keynote speaker is T. Mychael Rambo, a Regional Emmy Award-winning actor, vocalist, arts educator, and community organizer. His talk, “Make Them Hear You,” is an interactive and motivational look at how we use our voice, our actions and our intentions to take bold steps toward meeting our academic and personal outcomes.
T. Mychael Rambo’s presentation will be at 10 a.m. and at 5 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. The 5 p.m. session will be open to the public, so feel free to invite friends and family. A shout-out to Student Life and the Black Student Union, who are supplementing the fee for this fabulous speaker.

Inver Hills is celebrating the college’s 50th Anniversary.
T. Mychael Rambo bio
T. Mychael Rambo is a Regional Emmy Award-winning actor, vocalist, arts educator and public speaker who has made an indelible mark in the Twin Cities, performing principle roles at a number of area venues, including:
- Guthrie Theater
- Penumbra Theater
- Ten Thousand Things Theater
- Ordway Center for the Performing Arts
- Illusion Theater
- Mixed Blood Theatre
- Park Square Theatre
- Children’s Theatre Company
Outside the Twin Cities, Mr. Rambo’s stage credits include Carnegie Hall and performances in Africa, Europe and South America. He has appeared in local and national television commercials, feature films, HBO miniseries and other television programming.
Mr. Rambo had the honor of singing the National Anthem for U.S. presidents, Barak Obama and Jimmy Carter. He is an accomplished residency artist and affiliate professor in the College of Liberal Arts, Theatre Arts and Dance at the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Rambo has released two popular CDs: Simply, a collection of jazz standards, The Gift: A Christmas with Love, a selection of original and holiday classics.
As a public speaker, Mr. Rambo shares his motivational skill set by lacing together spirited anecdotal storytelling, insightful observations, levity and song. His interactive presentation is thought-provoking, transformative and truly enriching.
