More about The Princess and the Pea…
An ingeniously hilarious and highly entertaining version of Hans Christian Andersen’s very short story gets an original spin when set in the kingdom of Maxwell-by-the-Sea! Prince Valiant is looking for a real princess to marry and has searched all over the world encountering several very strange princesses.
Discouraged, he returns home to the castle. That evening, in the midst of a great storm, there is a knock on the castle gate. To everyone’s surprise in comes a bedraggled girl named Princess Olivia and her devoted Lady-in-Waiting seeking shelter. She claims to be a princess…a real one.
The Kings mother (Granny) is skeptical, but she has a test. She puts a pea beneath 20 mattresses. A real princess would feel the pea. Princess Olivia tosses and turns uncomfortably, until finally, looking under one of the bottom mattresses, she finds the pea. She removes it and settles down to sleep, proving that she is indeed a REAL princess of the truest Princessness!
