Kick Off is an annual fall event at Inver Hills Community College. This January, the college is hosting a second, virtual Kick Off to get students prepared for spring semester. All students—especially new students starting this spring—are encouraged to attend.
As a student attending Kick Off, you’ll be able to meet other students as well as faculty and staff. Join us to learn about all the resources you can access to help you have the best possible experience at Inver Hills. The virtual event takes place Friday, January 8, 2021, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Welcome Session & Panel Discussion
11 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
This session will be held on a Zoom webinar and D2L Brightspace. The FAQ section below has more information about what you will want to know before you join us on January 8, 2021.
At this session you can expect a welcome from administration, Inver Hills 101, a Q & A/panel discussion with students, staff and faculty.
Learn how you can win a Nintendo Switch, Tablet or a $50 gift card by completing the optional scavenger hunt.
Virtual Information Fair and Picnic
Noon – 12:50 p.m.
This year, the picnic is BYOB (Bring Your Own Burger), and instead of student leaders, faculty and staff sitting at tables on the campus mall, we will have all meet together on Zoom from our own living rooms.
We encourage all participants to have a webcam and microphone for this portion of the day.

What technology do I need to participate?
You will need to be able to use Zoom and students will use D2L Brightspace. You will need to have a camera and microphone for Zoom sessions.
Where can I find information on how to use Zoom?
You will be able to access the meeting links here, in D2L and in the email sent out to you. More information about how to use your Zoom account is available.

Is Kick Off only for new students?
In past years we have invited new students to attend, this year ALL students are encouraged to join us and invite family and friends!
Why should I come to Kick Off?
Students who have more connections to faculty staff and other students tend to do better in classes. In addition you will learn about the many resources available at Inver Hills.
Do I actually need my camera on?
No, but we recommend it strongly. You can find virtual backgrounds here and instructions on how to use them here.
