Virtual Student Success Day Fall 2021

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. All events virtual except for Community Garden Tour and Grocery Bingo

Inver Hills Community College is hosting Virtual Student Success Day Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. All events will be virtual except for the Community Garden Tour and Grocery Bingo and Food Pantry Open House.

Mark B. Wallace, author, consultant, educator and speaker, will be giving the keynote presentation, 5 Steps to Better Control and Focus in a Chaotic Reality at both 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Student Success Day is dedicated to YOU—our students—to help you find the resources you need to be successful in college and in your personal and professional life. Zoom sessions will be held during the day. Prerecorded videos are available for you to watch at your convenience. Your instructors may be holding extra office hours.

There are no regular classes. However, accelerated courses and off-campus classes may be held as usual. Evening classes will start at 7 p.m. and end at the usual time. Check with your instructor if you are unsure if your class is meeting on Student Success Day.

5 Steps to Better Control and Focus in a Chaotic Reality

10 – 10:55 a.m.

6 – 6:55 p.m.

Mark Wallace will discuss “Getting Things Done” (GTD) methodology—a systematic approach to school, work, and life that helps reduce stress, increase control and productivity, and equip people with the tools needed to become the most effective versions of themselves.

The major focus will be the 5 steps to create order out of chaos, what they look like in practice, and why they are necessary in this historic reality. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Come out to our Community Garden behind Heritage Hall for an autumn tour!

Grocery Bingo and Food Pantry Open House

1 – 1:55 p.m.

Come play bingo and win free groceries and other goodies! Also, learn about campus and community food resources. While you’re there, check out the newly opened Food and Resource Center and pick up food for yourself and your family. This event takes place in College Center Room 210 (second floor across from Counseling and Advising department).
