Science Building lab naming recognizes IHCC and Xcel Energy collaboration
On Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, Room S134 in the Science Building on the campus of Inver Hills Community College was renamed the Xcel Energy Physics and Engineering Lab. Attending the event from Xcel Energy were Laura McCarten, regional vice president NSP-Minnesota, Joanna Ramirez-Barrett, director of corporate giving, Lauren Olson, senior foundation representative, Jake Sedlacek, community relations manager for Dakota County, and Laurel Boerger, community affairs manager and IHCC Foundation board member.
Inver Hills attendees included Tim Wynes, college president, Christina Royal, provost/vice president of academic affairs, Anne Johnson, interim associate vice president of strategic initiatives, Gail Morrison, executive director of foundation and advancement, Leslie Krona, alumni coordinator, Anand Vyas, engineering, math and physics instructor, and Scott Johnson, physics instructor.
Xcel Energy and the Xcel Energy Foundation have a long history of supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, economic initiatives, student scholarships and sponsorships at Inver Hills Community College.
